The ammo uses up much more resources than crossbow ammo but is also much deadlier. 5) Bayonet Crossbow: Ever have your dwarves try to beat the enemy to death with their crossbows, when they should really be firing at them? With the bayonet attachment to the crossbow they have a much better chance at killing something in melee combat, so they aren't totally dead when the enemy gets too close.
